Ameinu offers its congratulations to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris
President-elect Biden faces a monumental task of healing a polarized nation and repairing America’s fractured international alliances, but Ameinu believes that he is more than up to the task.
In his victory speech on Saturday night, President-elect Biden struck the right tone when he quoted from the book of Ecclesiastes: “The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season — a time to build, a time to reap, a time to sow. And a time to heal. This is the time to heal in America.”
Ameinu has worked with the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect in the past and knows of their personal commitments to a secure and democratic Israel and to a negotiated two state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. As a first act in addressing this crucial area, we hope they quickly restore humanitarian aid to the Palestinian Authority and the USAID funding for Israeli-Palestinian cooperative endeavors. This will signal a policy reset and lay the groundwork for future steps.
Likewise, Ameinu hopes that the Biden administration will work towards reducing tensions with Iran through diplomatic means, including coordination with the participant countries that comprised the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal reached in 2015.
