Israel at 75: What Kind of State of Israel do you Want?

Stand Up for Democracy 2022 (1)

Ameinu is proud to join other Jewish organizations as we commemorate the 27th anniversary of the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin z”l.

Sunday, November 6th

If you live in or around NYC, we urge you to join us in person for the youth and adult event at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue:

2:00-4:15 pm ET

For those living outside of the tri-state area, please join us online at 3:00 pm EST

All programs will come together for a youth-led closing ceremony at 4:00pm EST

Please register in advance by clicking here

The event draws its inspiration from the “Asefa Israelit” (Israeli Assembly) led by a wide range of youth movements in Israel. The Stand Up for Democracy Coalition in America, founded five years ago, aims to bring together diverse Jewish voices to debate the challenges facing Israeli democracy and pluralism in the North American Jewish community and Israel, and strengthen our commitment to democracy.

Rabbi Michael Miller, former CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council, will be our keynote adult speaker at the Stephen Wise Press Synagogue, followed by roundtable discussions.

Yuli Tamir, former Minister of Education and Immigration and current President of Beit Beryl College will lead our online event. Tamir brings four decades of political and academic engagement with the challenges of democracy in Israeli society and is a member of the Public Council of the Israeli Stand Up for Democracy Coalition.

Youth programs in New York City and Philadelphia will be led by leaders of different North American youth movements.

The Jewish community across North America is coming together to support democracy and human equality as central to our Jewish values. Now is the time to turn to each other and spread this message. Together, we will remember the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and stand up for democracy!
