Ameinu extends its heartfelt congratulations to the newly formed government of Israel under the leadership of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid. We are heartened by the inclusion of the Labor Party, Meretz and Ra’am in this wall-to-wall coalition and welcome the end to the dysfunction and paralysis that characterized Israel’s politics for the past two years. This is the most diverse Israeli government ever, with a record nine female ministers and the first time an independent Arab party has taken part in forming the government.
Ameinu looks forward to the new government taking concrete steps to preserve the rule of law,
re-establishing democratic norms, and preserving the independence of the judiciary.
Undoubtedly, the new government faces myriad challenges, especially taken into account that there are elements within the coalition that oppose a two state solution. It is Ameinu’s fervent hope that it succeeds in leading Israel out of the toxic Netanyau era and restoring a sense of a shared society to all citizens of Israel.
