From Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and beyond, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets over the past few weeks to protest the far-right Netanyahu government’s assault on democracy and the rule of law.
While the protest movement gathers steam and leaders from across Israeli society speak out, the Netanyahu government continues to press ahead with its plans to subvert the authority and independence of the Israeli Supreme Court. Meanwhile, they also are pressing forward with plans to deepen settlement expansion and occupation in the West Bank – while hoping to ensure there’s no independent judicial authority in place to stop them.
It’s a full-blown democratic crisis – and the Israelis taking to the streets need our solidarity and support.
That’s why Ameinu and our partners in the Progressive Israel Network are excited to co-host our own Rally for Israeli Democracy in New York City on Tuesday, February 21st at 4 pm Eastern. The rally will take place in front of the Israeli Consulate at 800 2nd Ave in Manhattan.
